Dear Parents,

Welcome to Las Animas School! I hope you are enjoying your summer and that you will be rested and excited to begin the 2016/2017 school year. We look forward to working with you and your child to make this a coming year successful and fun!

Your child’s assignment for the 2016/2017 school year will be posted on the office doors by August 15th.

Back to School Nights are scheduled by grade level and they are for adults only. Please do not miss this opportunity to meet your child’s teacher. You will receive very important information from your child’s teacher. Back to School Nights begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose room. After a short meeting you will meet in your child’s classroom.

  • Kindergarten Parents, please notify your child’s teacher at Back to School night if your child will be taking the school bus to and from school.
  • We will prepare a bus pass for your child only I f you have notified the teacher. We require all parents provide us with a written note of changes in the daily transportation method of their child i.e. bus rider, walker, or picked up by private car.
  • Inform your child’s teacher, office staff and health clerk/nurse of any immediate medical needs your child may require. Please bring in written information from your child’s doctor.
  • School lunch can be purchased for $2.60 including milk. Breakfast is $1.25 and milk can be purchased for 50 cents per day. Online payments can be made at www.ezschoolpay.com you will need your child’s ID number.  For those who qualify reduced breakfast is 20 cents and reduced lunch is 40 cents.
  • Please do not accompany your child into the classroom buildings. For safety reasons and congestion, please stay behind the red line.
  • Wednesdays are early dismissal: kinders are dismissed at 1:08, 1st – 3rd graders are dismissed at 1?25 and 4th and 5th grades are dismissed at 1:30 pm.
  • Please be aware that signal traffic lights have been installed at the intersection of Luchessa and Cimino St. Also be alert to the NO PARKING signs. Gilroy Policy will be giving out citations.
  • Our school is near areas under construction, please obey all traffic rules, school pick-up/drop-off procedures and be a courteous driver.  We want to ensure your child is safe and the safety of all of our 760 students.
